2025 Theme: Sustainability Leadership in an Era of Uncertainty

As the world grapples with unprecedented changes in our natural, built, and political environments, these same shifts are reshaping how we understand and practice sustainability. While the challenges of our time—from climate change to economic inequality—bring uncertainty, they also open the door for rethinking leadership, collaboration, and long-term action.

The 2025 STTPA Conference invites conversations about the many forms of sustainability leadership needed to navigate this new era. From policy and science to community activism and education, the conference will highlight how individuals and institutions across sectors are innovating to meet global challenges with local and systemic solutions.

We welcome contributions from academic, advocacy, industry, and community perspectives. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Sustainability education

  • Science and sustainability

  • Advancements in sustainability law and policy

  • Interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary approaches to sustainability

  • Environmental communication

  • Technological innovation

  • Economics of sustainability

  • Grassroots activism

  • Well-being

  • Environmental social movements

A Collaborative and Engaging Space

Because sustainability depends on mutual learning and collective action, the 2025 STTPA Conference will feature two days of interactive programming designed to spark dialogue and meaningful exchange.

The conference will include:

  • Panel discussions

  • Integrated (theory, practice, and action) sessions

  • Poster presentations (research and practice)

Together, these sessions will create a rich and inclusive environment for sharing ideas, strategies, and solutions as we move toward a more just and sustainable future.
